Upcoming fundraisers include a Tallahassee (FL) social event, continued concession-stand fundraising in South-West Florida event arenas, and our second annual, "Buy a beer, buy a desk" campaign!
In addition, we have worked out the logistics of hosting our first ever Equatoguinean student for a summer of scholarship and education. From mid-May to mid-August, Nguere will be housed by The Ladybug Project in Fort Myers (FL) and will work towards bettering his English. Nguere hopes to pass the TOEFL test and gain admission into an American university to study for a Master's degree (the university system in Equatorial Guinea does not extend beyond the bachelor's degree). Ultimately, he aspires to return to Equatorial Guinea and inspire others to follow in his footsteps. For more information on our university student, please click to this page.
In addition, we hope to launch our first supply deliveries to Equatorial Guinea. With the help of oil industry professionals, and in-country volunteers, we will start the first of many supply deliveries.
Finally, we are thrilled to be working out our 2012 plans to raise money for renovations to our schools in Madagascar. Kim, our Executive Director, will be embarking on her first field season as a conservation biologist in Madagascar, and will use these months to work with our Malagasy initiatives.
