Micah Burkey earned a masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University, and works in operations continuity for the Public Health Department in the City of Philadelphia. In the past he has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity as well as for the Honorable Senator Fasano (Florida Senate). He is a founding board member.

Joshua Stewart is the part-owner and manager of the Sanibel Adventures in Paradise Outfitters store, and is serving as the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors. Through his business, Josh has successfully introduced South-West Florida to a spectrum of high-end clothing lines and often works with area charities. He is active in the Sanibel and Fort Myers business and entrepreneurial community. He is a founding board member.

Marta Rusek joined the Ladybug Project as a Video Editor Intern in 2012. She is passionate about film as well as helping to raise HIV/AIDS awareness in Philadelphia and around the world. In 2011 she served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the West African country The Gambia. During her time in Peace Corps she created videos for a blog, Peace Corps Pop, which showcased volunteer life and extraordinary aspects of Gambian culture. She also completed a 32-minute documentary, Pathways to Progress, which has been played on Gambian national television and is being used by Peace Corps and the State Department to promote the work of Americans abroad at major functions. Ms. Rusek currently lives near the Philadelphia area, dividing her time between working on worthwhile film and video projects, volunteering at ActionAIDS, and spending time with her family. 

Nicole is a native Philadelphian who studied Political Science at Temple University. She currently works in the legal field and volunteers at the Liberty U.S.O. in her free time. She hopes to attend law school and work exclusively in the non-profit sector. Nicole will be working with The Ladybug Project, Inc. on the Annual Ghanian Youth Festival.

Jordan is our volunteer graphic designer and is responsible for our fantastic posters and brochure designs. In addition, he works closely with our organization to innovate creative logos and graphic design materials as needed. Michelle is our Outreach Intern and Florida Gulf Coast University Student Club Coordinator. She is working towards an undergraduate degree in Communications, is active in numerous charitable endeavors, and a member of her university Chi Omega sorority. Kristy has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee. She is currently pursing a Masters of Science degree in Social Work with a concentration in Management, Leadership and Community Practice (MLCP) at the University of Tennessee. She is the Vice President of the Masters of Social Work Organization (MSWO) and a member of Phi Alpha Honor Society for her scholastic achievement in social work.She will be working in Equatorial Guinea from January until May 2012 on Ladybug Project development programs.

Alistair is based in Madrid (Spain) and is fluent in written and spoken Spanish, French, and English. He currently works in the translation and language teaching industry for major institutions throughout Europe. Chelsea is based in British Columbia (Canada) and holds a Masters degree in Fish Physiology and Molecular Biology, and worked with Kim Reuter in Madagascar (one of the project's target countries). While in Madagascar she played on, and fundraised for, a women's community soccer team; she also visited both of our sponsored schools in Madagascar as a Ladybug Project Inc. representative.

Emilee will soon graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Media Arts & Studies and a focus in African International Studies from Ohio University.  She recently studied at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa while working at a local HIV/AIDS clinic.  After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in the non-profit sector  furthering the advancement of developing countries, particularly in Africa.  Emilee’s work with The Ladybug Project Inc. will focus on grant writing and fundraising for the organization’s health initiatives focused on addressing the crisis of HIV/AIDS in Ghana as well as capacity building.

Jessica is a native French and English speaker based in the UK. She holds a degree in Pharmacology and Genetics from King’s College London, and plans to undertake a Masters’ in Global Health and Development next year. She assists with grant writing, and contributes to The Ladybug Project Inc. charity’s HIV/AIDS initiative.
